These terms cover this website, our free tools and our published guides. Use of the CIP Sentry software is governed by a separate license agreement.

2. Informational content, not compliance advice
Our standards guides, articles, glossary and free tools are general educational information about the NERC CIP Reliability Standards. They are not legal advice, not an audit, and not a determination of compliance. Standards and effective dates change; always rely on the official standards published by NERC, orders of FERC, and guidance from your Regional Entity. You are responsible for your own compliance decisions.
3. Free tools
The self-assessment, compliance calendar and impact rating helper run in your browser and are provided “as is” without warranty. Results depend on your inputs and simplified rules, and may not reflect every requirement, exception or interpretation.
4. No affiliation
CIP Sentry is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by NERC, FERC, the E-ISAC or any Regional Entity. References to standards and organizations are for identification only.
5. Intellectual property
The site's content, design, software and the CIP Sentry name and logo are owned by CIP Sentry or its licensors. You may view, print and share our guides for your internal, non-commercial use with attribution. You may not copy the site's design or logo or republish substantial portions of content without permission.
6. Acceptable use
Don’t attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorized access to the site; don't submit false information or malicious content through our forms; and don't use automated means to scrape the site beyond normal search engine indexing. Good-faith security research is welcome under our vulnerability disclosure policy.

Links to other sites (for example nerc.com) are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for their content.
8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
